Blood Tests

Blood tests are an excellent diagnostic tool for veterinarians. They can show us what is going on internally with your pet, such as organ function, cellular activity, and other levels in the body. It gives us insight into what illness could be affecting your dog.

Why is it important to perform blood tests for dogs?

We offer pre-surgical bloodwork to all pets who are undergoing surgeries such as spay or neuter to make sure anesthetic will be safe for them based on their kidney and liver function.

Testing the blood of a healthy dog is also a great way to have a baseline level for what is average for your dog if they ever become sick.

Annual bloodwork for senior dogs can also help with early detection of things like kidney disease, diabetes, and other issues senior dogs often face.

How do I interpret my dog’s blood test results?

We run most of our blood tests in the clinic and have the results within minutes. The veterinarian can help you interpret results and what that means for your dog.
